Type Tool

The Type Tool in Photoshop 6 has undergone some major changes, but here we will concentrate on what we feel are the most useful ones and give examples of how they can be used. |

When you call up the Type
Tool  (shortcut T)
from the tool box the options will appear under the the menu bar. This
allows you to choose various options such as Font, Style
and the Size of the Font as shown above. |

With the Type Tool selected choose the colour of your text from either the tool box, setting the foreground colour of your choice, or on the options bar double click on the 'Set the text colour' and this will open the Colour Picker palette. |

One of the biggest differences with the Type Tool in Photoshop 6 is that it types live onto your image as shown above. Clicking on the image enables you to type in your chosen text. Tip If the text is not in the exact position you want, hold down the Ctrl key and your cursor becomes the move tool. You can then drag it into position. |

When you add text to your image Photoshop will add this
as a new layer. |

| Once you have typed in your text you can change the size or font of any of the words or letters by dragging the type tool over the text to highlight it. Then simply change the font of size as required |

| Photoshop 6 has a new feature which will allow us to Warp the text. Highlight the text and click on the Create Wrapped text button as shown above. From the drop down menu select the wrapping style to suite your image. Final adjustments can be made in the dialogue box. |

Text can also be added vertically as well as horizontally by clicking on the icons in the options bar as shown above. Many effects can be added to your text so it 's worth experimenting with the various options to be found in the Layer Style in your layers palette. |
