Adding a border
| A border can really help to finish off some images. This picture was taken in a car park and with the aid of Photoshop and KPT6 has made it into a eye catching image .....Easy with a car like a Ferrari!! |

With your image open in Photoshop we first need to
increase the canvas size to give us our border.

| Select the colour for your border by clicking on the colour palette within the tool box. (dia1). Now set this as our background colour by clicking on the arrows on the top of the colour palette or hit X on the keyboard to toggle back and fore. |

Now select Image > Canvas Size and from the drop down menu select percent for both the width and height and increase by 10% . You may need to experiment with size until you have a border that suits your image . Make sure that the centre of the box is clicked as this will increase the frame around your image evenly. Now click on OK. Tip for Photoshop 5.5 users Click here |

| With this image of the Ferrari I thought a thin red line around the inside of the border would just finish it off. Choose a colour that you want to use from your image with the eyedropper tool (diagram 3a) and set the colour as the foreground colour. (diagram 4) |

| Select the rectangular marquee tool and draw it around the inside of your border; now call up the Stroke command Edit > Stroke and select width of 3 and centre (diagram 5). Click OK and your border is finished! Now just save your new image... |
